Know Which Licence You Need For Your Horsebox
Your required licence depends on your fully loaded horsebox weight. For 3,500kg–7,500kg, a category C1 licence is required. For vehicles exceeding 7,500kg, a category C licence is mandatory. This applies to both private and commercial use, ensuring legal compliance and safe horse transportation across the UK.
When Driver CPC Is Required For Horsebox Driving
Driver CPC is not necessary if you are transporting your own horses without payment, such as to and from events. However, it is mandatory if you are paid for transport work, including employment by a commercial equestrian business or horse transport company.
